The project is an ongoing investigation in the development of a series of experimental displays, performative body objects and spatial installations, that are mediators for exploring the curonian splits landscape as a cultural space and social construct. The wooden and soft objects of the project 'realities, constructed' - based on various circular geometries without specific, pre-defined functions - that were developed in summer 2018 were open for individual appropriation. worn, carried and installed in the ‚natural‘ surrounding around nida generated absurd and irritating situations in the landscape. Through the relational use of those experimental dialogical objects the exterior landscape is transformed to an interior space that is inhibited by the wearer.
'The Forest Speaks' is a continuation of this artistic research on the relationship of body and landscape. New relational objects or communication devices, capes or displays were created that are carried on the body to open up a dialogue between the human body and the landscape. The project investigates typography, language and type as communication media on wearable objects, capes, signs - worn on the body - and then carried out into the landscape.
Nature and culture are often described as opposites. The project explores the question of which ideologized constructions of nature underlie this understanding: how do we perceive nature and landscape today? During a continued residency at Nida Art Colony those phenomena were explored in an experimental way, specifically investigating new relationships between people, plants, nature and landscapes, but also between organisms, matter and substance.
